AN INCREASING EPIDEMIC
Over 40% of homeless youth are LGBTQ in New York with 1 out of 4 becoming homeless after coming out to their families. Currently, there are no federal programs designed to meet their needs nor protect them against discrimination while accessing federally funded programs.
A HOPEFUL FUTURE
WHAT ABOUT US is a movement to highlight and bring support to those most often neglected in our society. Join in to help us bring light to our homeless LGBTQ youth and remind them that they’re not alone.
SHOW YOUR SUPPORT
This Pride, Barba will donate 25% of every haircut to New Alternatives Foundation from June 24th to June 29th. Each day will leverage a color of the rainbow flag (clients and friends are invited to wear the respective color to create a fun visual of solidarity) and Barba’s services will be donated daily to LGBTQ homeless kids. A fun and colorful menu of drinks will be offered for clients and those who are 21 and older.
SEE YOU THERE!
AHF will offer free HIV testing and education materials at Barba’s events, as well as hold raffles to raise money for the cause. AHF is a nonprofit organization at the forefront of HIV/AIDS medicine and the largest provider of HIV/AIDS medical care in the world.
New Alternatives New Alternatives provides a range of services designed to help LGBTQ+ youth succeed in transitioning to stable adult lives and welcomes all youth as they are with no barriers to entry.
Nutrafol will be matching client donations that Barba raises during their Pride week events. As a hair wellness company founded on the principles of celebrating individuality and proud expressions of identity, Nutrafol brings their message of positivity, hope, and commitment to progress as allies of the LGTBQ community and all those striving to grow with pride.
